Vw Jetta TFSI Brake Issue

I have had my 07 Jetta for just under 2 weeks now and I am in love with it :D The only downside Ive had is that the brakes were making a horrendous squeal every time you braked. They felt fine and stopped fast just sounded horrible. I sent it bake to the mechanic who fitted the new brakes before I got the car and collected it this afternoon with a different problem. The squeal is gone and the car now brakes quietly, BUT the brakes feel soft and don't have anywhere as much stopping power as they did before the mechanic.

The mechanic said all he did was buff the brake pads and apply anti squeak spray to the brakes so I am stumped as to why the brakes feel this way?

Take it back ,sounds like there's air in the system and the brakes need bleeding .

You'll need to bed the pads into the discs again. There are minute variations in the surface of the disc that the pads now won't be contacting as efficiently as before.

Stopping with firm pedal pressure from higher speeds (100 km/h will be fine) can quicken the process. They should improve over time with regular use also.
