Measure Brake Master cylinder

Hey there, Been trying to figure out how to measure a Brake Master cylinder. Want to upgrade from my original on my Mk1 to a 22mm Master cylinder (I got the booster and all that other stuffs)

So How do you measure a brake MC.

Also, since this is my first time doing something like this, any recommendations on what MC to go with, I've had a look on this forum and saw a few custom piping jobs with the installation of a newer MC which I want to avoid, looking for one with similar style just bigger and better.

What are you actually trying to achieve with the bigger M/C?

Have a look in my Mk1 16v thread for some details on brake lines.. I'm sure Pete Jones has a million pictures and probably a couple of threads devoted to it also.

Easiest way to "measure" it is just to have a look at it. There are some key differences between the different sizes. :)

I was always under the impression that a larger brake booster, as well as a larger MC, with the addition of upgraded calipers and discs, will give your vehicle a better stopping distance.

Take a look at those for some ideas.

Don't let the pipe work scare you. it's not all that hard if you get a 4 port master cylinder. Then you don't need to fiddle with any T pieces etc.
