Parking Brake Fault?

occasionally (not all the time) i seem to get a parking brake fault warning coming up on my MFD. Its happened both when i'm putting it on or taking it off.
just wondering anyone else had these intermittent issues?
is it worth taking it back (still under warranty) if it only occurs occasionally, though it seems to be happening more and more recently? :(

Something to do with being slammed, perhaps?

Not at all.

Pre-'09 models had dodgey buttons. Take it into the dealer, and let them know. Most of them carry the switch on the shelf.

i had a similar issue and when i approached the dealer i was told that it was not registering as a fualt so come back when it occurs. A bit disappointed given the cost of the vehicle and what i see a a trivial response.

yeh from my limited experience with VW customer service it seems to be whack the computer on there and if theres no faults theres no problem.
i got the same response with my gearbox troubles, though if they'd bothered to drive it theyd realise :D

Sometimes, it doesn't log a fault code. Although, when it malfunctions, it's really quite obvious.

I've had the same thing happen in the last week. Does it make a difference if i change gear into drive with my foot on the brake then disengage the park brake compared to when i have my foot on the brake, disengage the park brake then select drive? It doesn't give me the warning in the latter scenario!

If it's a button failure, the EPB control module may release the park brake for you, by driving off. It wont re-apply it when you pull up, though.

I had my R36 (delivered in June 2008) in for the 25000km/2 year service yesterday - the park brake button was replaced. I hadn't noticed it acting up, but the computer was throwing out fault codes...

I just had my 31,000km/2 yr service 2 weeks ago and the fault has only started this week...bugger.

Umai Naa, does it take them long to change over the faulty button?
