Wreck to Race - 94' Audi 80 Quattro 2.6 v6 - Sponge !!
Started working on this just over about 1 year ago. Seems like just the other day.
Initially the work has gone very slowly, as I was umming and arring about what was going to be done and how, in the end I decided to use the base that is there and build on that as things break. The most cost effective and fun/learning method as I get to feel how different parts change different things in the car.
For now, it is a stripped out track car with the standard drive-train/engine/brakes/tyres aiming for improved production there is still a way to go but in the meantime will be doing hill climbs and basically any other soft comp I can.
Her first outing will be at DECA this weekend, a great and safe chance for me to get familiar with sponge before I head out to a proper track day.

Removed from the car…
Carpets/Sound deadening/Most of under dash/rear seats/all of rear carpet/sun roof motor/airbags/Air-conditioning/abs controller/airbag controller/heating & cooling
I have done the following in the past year or so with most of the work being done over the past 4 months…
- Front RHS Driveshaft/suspension replacement/Rim Replacement
- Windscreen replacement
- Front Right Panel Replaced
- Brake pads changed front's (Standard items for now)
- Radiator replaced with a spare and flushed
- Oil/Filter changed
- Metal clip in Tie down cable
- Fire extinguisher
- Quattro Diff-lock above 20 MPH (Enabled)
- Heineken CAI intake
- Wheel Alignment done
- Purchased four spare rims (Audi Cabriolet)
- Small DC hair dryer to demist (Temp)
- Camera mount on rear parcel shelf
-Wire in/Still to be done before Saturday :)
Short Term stuff
- Exhaust Ordered (50 Bucks off of E-bay )
- Sway-bar (White-line)
- Lower Control Arms
- Short-Shifter
- Sort out knock in engine (Think it’s just a lifter)
- Brakes replacement (Race variety)
- Proper Electric Demister hardwired
- Kill Switches for Fuel pump/Battery
- Alarm removal (ha-ha)
- Gauges for OIL temp/pressure etc.
- Shift-I purchase
- Track Tyres
- Spark plugs replace
- Thermostat replace
Longer Term
- Full roll-cage
- Trailer Purchase (Opposed to borrowing one from the servo lol)
- Rebuild Engine
- Brake lines replace and remove ABS module
- Hydraulic pump remove to replace with v5 Vacuum cylinder
- Fully adjustable Coil Over suspension
- Race seats and harnesses
o Steering etc.
- Proper Tow Car (Opposed to borrowing one)
- Mount Intake manifold in reverse and fit ram scoop
- Audi 80 low radiator
- CAMS National Rally Licence
