so.... in the final incarnation of my motor, i'm running with EFI from a seat ibiza 2.0 gti.
except i cant seem to find anyone who does custom maps flash loaded onto the stock ecu. I'm not really after a generic piggy back chip because i have a couple of custom specifcations I want.
any body have any leads as to where and who?
I'm quite willing to ship an ecu overseas..

The ECU needs to have chip put in it. They are socketed so you can do it yourself.
I bought a 'tuned' chip off ebay. The car goes a bit better, certainly revs at the top end more.
Not sure you'll find one custom written but you may get lucky?

I was under the impression from when i talked to techtonics that maps could be flash loaded through the obd port, or a chip could be installed... i should read more into it.. :duh:
Dude same as digi just repace the chip for MUCH wider powerband rather than big midrange and no top end.
Ive been discussing this with Seb in relation to my VR6 . He isnt happy with the ignition timing around 1500-3000rpm . Too much advance .
There is a windows based tuning program thats available . You can write the software onto an encrypter then solder in a socket and swap chips over when you modify them . There are writeable chips available but they arent cheap . Your also gonna need a dyno do to it properly . Sebs looking at doing this soon cause no one else does custom tuning on older cars here . Whats your ecu number I can pass this info on and give you some options .

I'd need someone who knew the mapping interface... ( might know someone :rolleyes: ) and maybe a dyno... hehe. i know exactly how you feel, all the money here is in new chip tuning and stock ecu mod art is dying out. :(
i know sofarasmuch as the chip in my ecu isn't soldered in but socketed. i'd also need things like a micro soldering iron. this 6500rpm limiter is soooo annoying.
btw for your vr6, try techtonics tuning. i've been talking with collin there, and he's an absolute nutter ( in a good way ). they do stock chip tuning pretty cheap and they can all be custom tuned to motor specification.
any body heard of a place who does this in South Australia?
why not just go standalone ecu>>??? then you can atleast tune it when ever???

well standalone has its pros and cons. whilst i'd roughly know how to set it up, tuning is continously required. I have a friend with a 20vt on autronic who had a dyno tune and it was horrible. it's lumpy and the afr is rubbish and the motor is stock....
also, for my application, all of the parts are easily servicable and attainable. i'd do megasquirt if i had the inclination but i like vw reliability. :)
oh jar-rad, if you can find me someone who wants to supply, fit and tune my car to its current state of reliability, i'd probably do it tomorrow. ( dont mean to be a cocck )
