Hey Guys,
Just a quick question. How much did you pay for your exhaust systems (cat back) . I have a 2.0L golf mk4 and just want a ball park figure.
Thanks Steve

Will cost you anywhere from $500 to $3k. I would budget min $1000, max $1500. I paid ~$1400 for a Milltek cat-back for my Bora 4motion, but I got an awesome price on shipping direct from Milltek as I was being stuffed around by the supplier in the UK.
I'm after one as well, same car. I know that other cars it can cost only about 300. Not sure about the golf though, as alot of places love to up the prices for euros.
yer mates v6 mazda is only $300 ill have about 1k just need to know what people pay for them
I have the factory system from my GTI in my garage, would that be any use to you? I replaced it with a performance system, it was cut near where it passes over the rear cross member to assist removal, but it can welded easy enough. The whole system is here, front to back.
Snowy. :)
I just had a catback system using a magnaflow stainless muffler installed on Saturday for $480. I asked them to keep the factory resonator however as I'm planning on changing this later when I do the downpipe, and wanted to keep it quiet in the mean time.
It depends on several factors and what you are after in your package.
I'm looking into one in the near future, even though I only have a 1.6, I have a fair bit of induction noise, but nothing out the rear.
Things to consider:
Off the shelf (prefabricated) or custom made? Pipe diameter? mild steel or stainless? What kind of muffler? And, most importantly, where you go or if you know someone. A mate of mine owns a Toyota soarer, he had a custom exhaust made for his seriously worked engine. For the same specs on the system, he had quote variances of $1000. Shop around an pick what seems to you, to be the best deal.:)
Mild steel should last at least 8yrs. Stainless = much longer, but harder to work with. There is then mandrel bent or press bent - mandrel retains same diameter the whole bend, press doesn't.
Have been told in the past: Stock GTi exhaust system is the same as the stock 2L system, so is no point using it.
I might ask Bankstown mufflers (I think that's the name, opposite smash repairs, starts with m.). Been there in the past, pretty awesome prices.
Yeah, I think it's the same, I just wasn't sure if he wanted a performance upgrade or just a cheap replacement to fix a problem. Just offering if the OP wants to arrange a pick up he can have it if he just wants a perfect stock replacement (other than he would have to weld the cut).Quote:

Cool. wasn't sure, as has been a while since being told that, so yeah. cool. Seems to be a reasonably sized exhaust standard.
