Hi Folks, I took a corner too close to the curb one too many times. I'm now looking to repair some of the curb rash on my wheels. I'm running 'Dallas' model of alloy wheels for the MK7.5 GTI. Much of the damage are on the outer rim. None of the black painted parts are damaged.
Does anyone know any reputable shops in the Sydney Hills District area or surrounding suburbs? I am not sure about mobile repair businesses. Any insights on them?

The "Dallas" wheel (pictured below), like many other factory fitted wheels these days has a machined finish (the silver part of the rim face - also referred to as 'diamond cut finish'). You cannot repair this finish properly without re-machining the face of the rim. Unfortunately this is a relatively expensive exercise. Expect to pay $300-500 per rim to repair them properly to look factory.
Be careful with getting quotes, because the cheaper mobile guys wont have the equipment to machine the rim back to factory specs and will paint the wheel face silver to try to replicate the machined finish. The CNC machine used to repair the face of the wheel is not only very expensive, but much too big and heavy to fit in a mobile van.
I do not understand why so many manufacturers are using this machined finish on the wheels due to the fact that owners will inevitably scratch the wheels on gutters etc and then get charged a fortune to repair them.
The other option of course is to buy a 2nd hand set of these rims that someone else does not want or need anymore.

Thanks Lucas. Helpful as always. Geez, 300-500 per wheel. That's quite a chunk of change. I think I'll leave it be for now until get it really scratched up before considering a repair. I'm pretty sure this isn't the end of the scratches. Cheers!
Machined wheels are another level of hard like Lucas said, I would say those prices are even on the low side, I just got quoted $1000 for just a respray of all five Kansas on mine, multiple places too :|

I had two wheels repaired by CBC Wheels over 12 months ago. Still look like new. Very good job
Wheels aren’t much fun to paint. So many crevasses.
