The Auto on headlight setting on my Golf, is a bit weird. It regularly turns the headlights on in broad daylight, and keeps them on. Other times it's getting dark due to stormy weather etc, and it won't turn them on. However driving into an underground carpark, always makes them turn on. I can't work out what degree of light triggers it. I have cleaned the windscreen where the sensor is, but makes no difference. Can the sensors be replaced easily? or is it something else? common issue?
Have you done a scan with VCDS?

Is the windscreen clean? The sensor is up the top in the center.
Are there chips in the glass near the sensor?

What is Highway light function?
A waste of time is what it is. If you drive at highway speed the headlights turn on, but highway speed is 140km/h+ so never gonna happen legally in Australia.Quote:
