Yeah that thing is emissions and so is that silly nonsense bolted to your fan. I have never seen a Mk1 in Oz with an operational emissions system. Or met a pink slip mechanic that cared.

The one on the firewall was the anti backfire valve and when that went they backfired like "antilag" on a rally car, well nearly like that! Was all to do with the air pump models. Simple fix at the time? Cut the air pump belt!

Cool, thanks for the info guys, yeah true GLoon, not many people care, though I'd like to either make it work if it can save money or cut it the hell outta there so it doesn't make a clutter or cost more to carry about....
I'd like to clean up the engine bay of everything un-needed...

Chuck it all out, it wont cost you money. will probably save actually, with less weight and better breathing for the motor.
