Hi, New T5 player - Auto trans question

Hi Folks, We have three VWs in our house. 2010 Passat, 02 New beetle and an almost finished bare metal restored 74 L Bug.

I am thinking about a 06 T5 Transporter camper which is for sale. The Auto is shot. I have been looking into it. Can anyone advise me on how expensive it is and how difficult to source a transmission for these vehicles. do you know if it is a generic model box around those years, or very specific to the VIN. Any info on this task would be appreciated. I don't want to get into a total night mare ! Regards Shawry.
