Pod filter leaking boost?

I have a stock 01 mk4 gti, i recently bought a pod filter (only because i have a TIP that wont fit with the stock air box but didn't have it installed during this time period) and just clamped it onto the end of the maf. I usually get a peak of about 10psi with the air box and with the pod only about 6-7psi. i ran it for about a couple of weeks only really because the induction noise was nice and deep but replaced it again with the airbox and went back to 10psi. I cannot think of any way that is could be causing a drop in boost levels and cant find anything on the net about it. Maybe because the old 'hot engine air' being less dense and the turbo cant compress as much? Idk but yeah any help would be great.
ps. i have no idea how to navigate forums so don't get too mad if this is in the wrong spot :P

Can't be leaking boost at the pod filter.

I'd be looking elsewhere.

Seems unlikely but the only cause I could see is that the filter is restricting flow.

Well it was $16 from auto barn so yeah haha

Lol. So is your ECU chipped/reflashed btw? 10psi the norm?

I peak 15 hold 14psi stock with a tweaked n75 ;) but I see no way a pod could "leak" boost. Try a different brand pod?

Yeah ecu is all stock, I just realised it's ment to be a 'compact' pod filter so yeah it just must be restricting flow. Might go and buy a proper size one from super cheap for like $30 later on

modify your stock air box.
that and a clean filter will be a million times better then 90% of pod filters

your pod wont be leaking boost, more like its suffocating it or similar as mentioned above

So you rekon like cut a hole in the airbox and route a pipe from the bumper or inside the fender to it or something?
