Hey lads and/or ladette's,
I ordered a short shift kit from MissingLinkZ and it arrived today, however I'm struggling to decipher the installation instructions and am worried about breaking something important. So, is there anyone out there that has done this install before (I bought the top kit, I think it's called A3), and is willing to offer assistance?

Yes, I have this kit. What issues are you having?
Doesn't A1, A2, A3 stand for the MK number i.e
A1 = Mk1
etc

Oh yeah, you're right Vinda. I have the A1e (A1 for mk1 and e for the complete package).
I'm looking at the linkages and I can kind of figure it out, I'm just worried about tearing a bushing and/or breaking something. It'd be good to have someone that can look over my shoulder and just say 'take this off and swap it with that'... but I would settle with pointers/tips and/or images haha.
Did you get new bushings? They're usually the cause of sloppy shifters in MK1s.
I would strongly recommend changing the bushes at the same time as installing the short shift.
The kit i bought eliminates the need for the old bushings, with the exception of two cylindrical plastic bits with 1 flat end (on each).. which i assume is a super solid type of bushing (I remember reading something about it on the MissingLinkZ page).
I might do one part at a time over the next few days, as I'm worried about getting halfway through and getting stuck...
I was just wondering if anyone had installed the entire kit and new what roadblocks I might encounter (the installation instructions are fairly technical and confusing for a newbie like me).
There's no roadblocks to the install. Just do one link at a time.
Take the old one off, match the length as needed and then install. There's a couple where you need to add the ball studs, take out the old bushes and bolt the stud in.

So I've done the relay levers and the extension on the front-to-back motion, it's super notchy and was shocking at first... but after 30 minutes it feels very precise, though there is still significant movement while in gear and decent distance front-to-back, though still far better than before.
I've not managed to install the weighted shift rod or the poly bushings, anyone got any pictures or advice/input with how I should approach this? so far I've done everything to the car by just getting my hands into it's guts and hoping for the best.
I'm LOVING this car and I can't wait to get the rest of the kit in :)
