    VW service

Hi guys, just wanted some feedback from owners who are still under warranty.

    1. Do you guys take your vehicle to get serviced at VW? If not, has anybody been declined of warranty claims, as a result of servicing carried out by a licensed/reputable shop outside of VW. Please share experience, would like to hear it.

    2. Are you able to proceed to another VW dealer , despite 1st service already carried out at the dealer where the vehicle was purchased.
Reason for change of dealer: Not happy with staff + work carried out.

    Thanks

Mine will probably never go to the dealer I bought it off as its too far away and only bought there as local dealer had no stock

Legally you can get it serviced at any licensed mechanic but if you have any troubles VW are known for looking more favorably at it if you have a service record with them

I’ve had new cars since 1998 and never used the dealer for servicing. Mad plenty of warranty claims through VW, Holden and Nissan and never had a problem getting them to pay for it.

The quality of the warranty repairs was terrible at times though. VW South Yarra forgot to bolt up the exhaust and left the suspension cable tied to the brake lines after they had the car for over two months to fix a misfire. Glen Waverley VW replaced a radiator and the bonnet had to be slammed hard to shut it, plus it closed 5mm out of alignment with the guards.

I had a similar case to that.... suspension bolt not tightened after a warranty repair + test pilot by a staff.

I avoid the dealership unless absolutely necessary - in my experience you are paying top dollar for substandard and rushed work. I have found a good VW/Audi specialist mechanic who is well priced, had diagnosed assisted with issues previously with no charge/little charge, explains the work they need to do/ have done and are qualified mechanics. Id rather give them my hard earned money over a dealership - I dont need a fancy waiting room with wifi or a shuttle to work.
