    Question VCDS Help

    Hi all,

I have recently bought a used 2015 Golf 90TSI. I've also bought an aftermarket headunit with Android Auto/Carplay as well as a flip reverse camera.

    These are the item

I found someone who has installed both the headunit and the reverse camera, however after a few attempts we cannot successfully get the reverse camera to work. Does anyone in the Sydney area know of any VCDS specialists who can help.

EDIT: We've already tried enabling Byte 19 Bit 4 which is typically known for the reverse camera setting, but to no avail.

VCDS Conding and Diagnostics have helped installed both items but we're both at a loss on what to do next. The camera works (I can hear it flip up when put into reverse and no camera error on screen) and the headunit works just fine, as intended. It's just they don't work together.

Hoping if there was anyone else who has the similar or same configuration as me.

Its always possible that something is wrong with either the camera, headunit or cables.

Perhaps another member on here has done the same mods and can chime in, otherwise someone like Kamold or DVS2 who are the resident electronics gurus might be able to help.

Can anyone suggest why I cannot get thesetting to turn on the blind spot assist to stick?

A similar thing happened 2 years agowhen it would de-select after reverse gear was engaged.
The dealer fixed it and reported “readonboard diagnosis. Found static faults stored in the control unit.Deleted fault memory and re-checked rear assist operation and foundto be ok. Suspect fault to be caused by non-genuine devices attachedto the on board diagnosis and vehicle electrics.”
I had attached a heads-up displaydevice which has not been used again since.

9 months ago I had a mechanic who usesVCDS enable the “Easy entry front” for the electric driver seat. This moves the seat back 3-4 inches when you open the door to exitthe car. Onceyou re-enter the car and start it, the seat goes back to thememorized location for that driver. This caused no problems.

This time is a little different. Irecently had the same mechanic go into 13-AutoDist. Reg (or it may be called "adaptive cruise control")and Navigate to and remove tick from Bit 5 - called "Overtakingright preventtion" When using cruise control, that tweakreduces the way the car un-necessarily keeps braking well after a carin front has turned off right or left. Now I have noticed the blindspot assist is off.
IfI try to set it on, there's a “ding” and a message and orangeicon appears telling me “ ERROR: rear traffic alert and blind spotassist”
Themechanic is going to investigate, but doesn't know why it ishappening.

It turned out that the tiny connection behind the LH mirros that goes to the blindspot lamp had detached slightly.

Good to hear you found the culprit.

It was absolutely my fault and not assembly by VW to blame. I detached it a few months ago and must have failed to plug it back in properly although I am surprised that it came loose. I am anal about poor connections and the wiring to the connector is routed by several securing points. If it comes loose again I will use hot glue.
