Hey,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a second (or third) hand golf tsi from 2009 which has had the wheels replaced with wheels off of a Golf R (tyres are 225/40zr1. I had a family friend who's a mechanic have a look and he warned that the wheels might cause the car to not pass a road worthy if they weren't a stock option for the car. The clutch in the car is on the way out and I've been given a rough quote of up to $2500 from a local VW servicing centre. They suggested this forum for info about the wheels.

I realize this is probably not very helpful information. If you need any more details I'll do my best to provide them.

The car has ~116k kms and asking price is $7k for reference. It also had a engine rebuild due to a recall in 2018.I guess what I'm trying to ask is:
-Will the wheels be an issue?
-Good idea?
-Please forgive my third grader understanding of cars?

Thanks!
