    OBD2 Scanner

Gidday, I've just purchased a 2008 Passat TDi with 150k. I'm asking for recommendations for an affordable OBD2 scanner ? Having previously owned a 2007 Passat TDi PD , I got away without needing a scanner but with the greater complexity of the common rail/DPF engine I expect some head scratching in my ownership. I have always done my own mechanical repairs but I've read many reviews about how troublesome the 2008 + TDi's can be so I'm a little nervous as to what bugs I'll face and so a scanner would be a great help. Is their a budget friendly scanner or phone App with Bluetooth, that works well with this model ?
    Thanks for any advice 👌

Carista dongle ($46 from AutoInstruct) and then the Carista app which is about $70 AUD per year for full access.

Also download the VAGDPF app ($5) which you can use the Carista dongle with.

This is all you need in 98% of cases to know what is going on with the car.
