Newbie Keen on R-Lines B8’s

Hello,
My name is Joel and I’m hunting down a Passat B8 R-line wagon (so not a VW owner yet!). Have known of this forum from previous car worlds (skylines downunder along with a few BMW forums). A lot has changed in life now, where sports coupes aren’t suitable for a family, so I feel this is a good balance where a bit of fun can be had here and there but is still super practical.
Any tips/buying guides or quick links would be most appreciated!
