Interested in Skoda Superb 206TSI MY17: questions

    Hi all,

I'm interested in buying a Skoda Superb my17 fully loaded with the option packs that's on sale (private).

I'd like to ask you if:

    - there are any well known issues for the 2016 SKODA Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY17 ?

    - I have the VIN number, how can I check what options the car has installed and where and how it was serviced (I would like to do the check, not just rely on what seller says). Does Skoda provide any VIN check service?

    - how can I check it's still in the warranty? (3y vs 5y)

    - this car has something what I hear is a digital logbook. My local car mechanics which I've used in the past and they are great said they can't do it and from the same reason they don't service the Volvo cars neither. The closest VW is quite far away and it's not very convenient. What options do I have?

    - Is this digitial logbook mandatory for retaining the warranty?

    - Does it has to be serviced by VW or Skoda dealer??

    - this car has a sun roof, test-driven the car during a really hot day and I could feel the heat coming from the glass, has anyone ever tried to put a different/another sun/heat reflective film?

    Thank you

    Welcome to the site.

A nice vehicle you are considering there; ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4...

Are you looking at the Sedan or Wagon?

When you say its "fully loaded" I am assuming you mean it has both the Tech Pack and the Comfort Pack (Image Pack was standard).
Then the only options where Paint and Roof. So anything extra would be accessories if on the car already.

    If its a Sedan; Sunroof
If its a Wagon; Panoramic Sunroof

    EVERY car can have issues...

Part of the VAG ownership experience is to be on a first name basis with your Workshop Foreman (or chosen specialist mechanic).
    - Check the Chrome window pieces as they are know to come off.
    - Check the front lower control arm bush for a knock.
(both will be covered under warranty - which is 5yrs on these ŠKODA's)

As for servicing, the seller should be able to show the services via the APP.

But no doubt, they would also have original invoices also, so that will confirm the servicing history.

For reference it is 12mths or 15,000kms (whichever comes first).

The car can be serviced anywhere, nothing to do with an APP that shows that you car has had a service.
The APP does not do the "oil change"...

    I had a 2017 Volvo V60 T5 R-Design, I serviced at Volvo ($1,500 a service)...I no longer have that car!!!

If you are in Brisbane, there is Brisbane City ŠKODA and Mt Gravatt ŠKODA.

A whole different conversation about tinting a sunroof... search it up to find out for your self.

I have never experienced too much of a problem and have had sunroofs and Panoramic Sunroofs before and I thought they were great!

What colour are you looking to get?

    Price?
MY18 VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition + Panoramic Sunroof + some extra goodies... (Pure White)
MY17 ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4 + Sunroof + Tech Pack + Comfort Pack + some extra goodies... (Moon White)

Hi, thanks for your response, it's much appreciated.

Yes you were correct, it has tech pack, comfort pack and panoramic sunroof.

It's a wagon, candy white, black interior, 21K kms and they are asking 40k$ (down from 42.500) they were asking two months ago.

In regards to servicing, I was asking about this 'requirement' to do the digital logbook because I have received the following response from Brisbane Škoda:
    "
All Skoda’s from 2015 onwards now have an Electronic service book and all Skoda franchises can see were the vehicle has been serviced, therefore an independent specialist will more than likely not be able to complete the electronic service record that Skoda deem necessary for any warranty repairs that are necessary have the potential cause concern and possible rejection for future claims should the vehicle fail.
    "

Hrnce my worry in case I'd like to claim something under the warranty. The reputation of the service center I'd plan to go to is really good but u fortunately they don't do it (Bridgestone service center in Narangba)

Seems like I'll have to give them a call again ( to Škoda) and ask about this requirement again.

    Thank you

    Lovely car...hope you get it.
As long as any work is performed by registered mechanic, the manufacturer can’t deny a warranty claim

The dealership is trying to scare you.

Some independents have access to the system. Also, the number of complaints about the dealership not recording the service is quite high.

There is no obligation to have your service done at a dealership to maintain warranty (look at the ACCC website). You just need an itemised receipt. It is possible to buy a genuine logbook online or you could make your own service sheet and get the workshop to stamp and sign it.

Try Alba European. He has a great reputation.

Does the Bridgestone place do lots of VAG cars?

Thanks for the tip but that's way down south from me. I've stopped one guy here in Narangba who drives Skoda Superb 206TSI wagon and he gets it serviced by Autotune@North Lakes. not sure if autotune would be my choice but I might give them a call

I strongly recommend you find someone that knows VW group vehicles. In the long run it will be cheaper and a lot less grief. Believe me, it isn't a Camry. It's twice as enjoyable and engaging but half as reliable.

A good, honest mechanic is worth travelling to. I watch a guy on youtube and his customers drive overnight to see him.

Go to German Auto in Geebung, VW specialists (they even race them) and good to deal with.

Closer to you and I take all my VWs to them.
