    2018 Passat 132 TSI

    Hi there,

I'm new to Passat after my 32 year-old Toyota Camry blew a head gasket on the way home from Launceston one rainy night after Easter. Called the RACT and they decided we had to be hauled back to Launie. On the way, I sold the Camry to the driver for $50. Two days later, I became the owner of a 2018 Passat.

I searched for a suitable forum in case I need help, and I found it – here!

    Welcome to the site mate!!!

Tell us more about your car...

    Sedan / Wagon?

The 132TSI is available as a 132TSI (and you can get optional Drivers Assistance Package - DAP).
Or 132TSI Comfortline in which you could also get the optional Luxury Package and/or the optional R-Line Package.

Do you know what options are on your Passat?
MY18 VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition + Panoramic Sunroof + some extra goodies... (Pure White)
MY17 ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4 + Sunroof + Tech Pack + Comfort Pack + some extra goodies... (Moon White)

    Thanks for the welcome.

I've got a wagon, ordinary 132 TSI. As for the options, I've been through the entire 392 pages of the manual, made my own 12-page notes, and am pretty sure there is little about the computer side of the car, and the settings, that I don't know about.

What surprised me though was the requirement to use only 95 RON petrol, and how much more specialised are the liquids required to keep the thing running, than for the old Camry. From tap water with a little bit of that green stuff for coolant, to purple stuff that costs $10 a litre. Cost of recommended oil has jumped by a factor of three.

This is my fourth car and I hope my last. It's the only one of the four that has intimidated me when I first jumped in. But I'll get to master the beast.

Yes, a lot of items will need to be specific for your car, gone are the days of zipping down to Repco or Supercheap to pick up a CV Boot for example... Genuine Parts are the way to go, however there are many aftermarket brands such as Mann / Hengst etc. that do the OE parts also. As of oil, only VW Approved 504/507 5-30W for your beast!!!
