Lightbulb Vw 2009 - oil cooler replacement

    Hey guys

I think i'm being played abit by my mechanic (hopefully not) :/

I had my Waterpump replaced a week ago totaling $1261.60 including $385 for labour (does this sound right?)

Then a day later the car "coolant" light popped back up & turned into a puddle, took it back & was told I needed to replace the Engine Cooler totaling $528.30 including $220 for labour!

I may be paranoid but need some helpful help haha thank you

Gday, have a look at this thread. Another member had a similar issue last week and it cost them close to what you have been quoted.

The oil cooler sits above the oil filter housing and uses engine coolant to cool the oil. This oil cooler has a series of o rings and gaskets and it one of those gaskets fail you will have coolant leaking all over the place.
