A few questions about my Tiguan..

Hey Guys, i've had my tiguan for a couple of weeks. My 09 tiguan has all the options (except for xenons and MDI ), i've thoroughly enjoyed it so far but have the following questions:

When you put the auto (non DSG) in D, it always starts off in 2nd gear, just want to know if its normal? It will however start off in gear 1 when put in S (Sport mode).

When hooking up the tow bar, is there meant to be any indication that the car knows that a tow has been connected? I briefly towed a small boat but could not notice any indication, although it towed it easily which was very pleasing.

Also, how do you know if you have an alarm installed in your Tig?

    Thanks for your help

It is normal. It will start in first when you select "S"mode.
Look in the MFD for the Alarm setting.

Look for the 3 character Option Codes on the sticker located in your Service Schedule booklet and punch them into this website:
    VW Group Option Codes Decoder

It'll tell you exactly what options you have (including alarm) if you have it.

Alternatively, the alarm also includes motion sensors inside the cabin.

So lock yourself in with remote and wave your arms and legs like this and see if it goes off!

In the Mk5 Golf you could still open the front doors, even if doors are locked with remote!
So it'll go off that way too! But not sure with the Tig!

Haven't bothered to read the manual (just like you hippyhippy)!
