How can you tell the difference

Just looking at a Tiguan how can you tell whether it is a 125 or 147? (apart from the shiny bits on the roof racks and the windows)

The engine numbers on the rego sticker will be prefixed differently.

CAWA or CAWB I believe

I believe the 147 has a badge TSI

Where as the 125 has a badge TSI

But beware of 190 TSIs

...and if you get done in a 0 - 100 sprint, then it's a 125 manual. If you get really badly done, then it'll be a 190.

17 " wheels and chrome bits make it visually obvious from the outside.

Thanks all - it is a very discreet way of knowing which is which. But we VW owners are like that aren't we? I speak from authority having had a 1964 1/2 Beetle for 17 years and a 2000 Golf.
