    Interior reading light always on?

I just replaced the interior light bulbs to LED lights and I am experiencing a strange phenomenon.
Well maybe its only strange for me as a newbie owner.

So the front reading light in the top console (I dont have sun roof), which comes on when I open the doors and turns off when I start the ignition or lock the car, so the front reading light stays on even if I lock the car or I drive it. I am not talking about full power, but it stays on with using low power, only the top LED is on, almost invisible, but its on.

I replaced the original light bulbs with the first LED light in this thread (the top one):

Is anyone else who replaced the lights to LED having the same?

Have you replaced the front reading lights aswell? I know sometimes when people buy the really cheap nasty kits off ebay they cause problems like you described all the way to the car thinking that there is a bulb out causing the warning light to come on the dash. I am not too sure what the quality is like on the ones you linked though?

Could you recommend me the LED you have? Where did you buy it from? Cheers

Hi azza, I think you misunderstood what I wrote. It is the reading light. There is no warning light on the dash.

I bought mine off another forum member who was doing a group buy:

You may see if he has any left or if not he may be able to point you towards where he sources his from. I beleive he brings them in from China.

Yeah mate I didn't misunderstand, what I meant is that I've seen people put in the cheap lights off ebay etc and they get faults like the one you've listed and also the globe warning light on dash as another symptom aswell. I am aware that your globe warning light is not on, but I am stating that this could be a symptom of aftermarket poor quality LED lights. Don't forget LED lights have a difference power output etc to the standard lights fitting in the car, it might be a good idea to first check the quality of the LEDS you bought, then check what current you have running to them and comparing that to what is recommended for them? This is like a needle in a haystack though, probably a hard one to find, if it annoys you vigorously I'd just put the factory ones back in or get a set installed by a 'professional'.

    Goodluck with it matey.

Don't you have to put the master light switch into automatic mode?

Hi Martin if you are asking me, its in automatic mode.

By the way this is an answer I have got on another forum:
The LED's that you have got haven't got enough resistance, the system has a small amount of voltage that flows even when the system is off this is what you are seeing due to the low resistance of the LED's

Anyway, I just ordered a new set of quality LEDs from a forum member recommended by Tigger.

    Thanks.
Interior light problems dont show on the dashboard, only exteriors. That's because you would recognize it sitting in the car (hey, its dark!).
    Anyway, its sorted.
