Auto Hold and Park Brake - correct use?
Hi All,
I have just taken delivery of a new Tiguan 103TDI 4 Motion DSG.
It has the following (related to this post):
•Auto hold
•Park Brake
My driveway is a down hill slope. So every morning when I reverse out of my driveway once I disengage the park brake, the car will tend to roll forward unless you are fast on the accelerator pedal.
My questions are:
what is the correct procedure for a hill start when using the following:
•downhill start with auto hold
•downhill start with park brake
•uphill start with auto hold
•uphill start with park brake
From my short experience auto hold does nothing when you reverse, the car just revs and sounds like gears are clashing. (Am I damaging the gearbox, during these attempts?)
I reverse even when park brake is engaged and it seems to disengage when i do. Could this be the correct way?
On a manual car I would tend to use the hand brake (slowly releasing) when I hit the friction point so that the car does not roll.
