relpacing stock speakers in polo gti

Hi, I'm considering upgrading my stock system and wanting to change the factory speakers. My question for anyone in the know, can the speaker covers/grills on the doors be somehow forced out or do i have to take the whole door compartment off? Many thanks in advance.

You can force anything off if you apply force. Will it go back on... probably not. Taking the door trim off doesn't take long to figure out

You have to remove the door trim fully. There are 3 screws on the bottom which use the T20 allen key. Once that's off, you need to push gently tap/push around the speaker rear, which then you can lift upwards to remove it. You also need to be wary of half of the cables that are also in the Polo's doors. Just make sure you Dynamat the door skins before you place speakers in. Also, the grills do not come off. You cannot remove them without doing any damage to your door cards

I put Focal speakers in mine and it took quite some time, but it was worth it!

Another question i've got is how do you get to the tweeters on the front (a-pillars)? Sorry if i sound really silly, but i have no idea. Thanks in advance for any info.

Think I mentioned it in the PM I sent you. Disconnect the battery (to avoid accidental deployment). Remove the 'Airbag' plastic plug and the screw underneath. Here's the tricky part - there is another screw hidden underneath if I'm not mistaken, which has to come off before the upper section of the 1-pillar physically detaches. To detach, lift from upper section, which will release the lower section from the dash. Make sure you wire the is loomed through the fuse box/service panel to where your cross-overs will be.

Here is a picture of the pillar off, with the Focal tweeters installed.
