So I am ready to get a newer RNS510 unit, and noticed that there is now a Q version.
What is the difference between a P unit and these newer Q units?
I think I am currently running a C unit....

Don't want to be a downer, but what do you think are the compelling reasons to upgrade at all?
You don't get any new functionality over your existing unit, just a faster processor so it is a bit more responsive in the UI and route calculations.
Your C unit can run the same firmware as current systems if you havent already upgraded it so that you get RDS and make voice guidance which would be the only functions that you may not have had on older firmware.
Q units are designed for Chinese domestic use. If you are set on upgrading, get a P.

Yeh, tricky one I know. The C is fine, little sluggish on screen inputs, but always a quick start up. I understand the P and Q share the same upgraded new motherboard which also includes features ready for newer VW media enhancements. Plus I read the Q offers alternate voice options for navigation. The Q appears on sale in Eastern Europe and South Africa too.
Feedback from ebayers who imported Qs to here, say there is no problem running them here. I think the 'Chinese' element is a misleader, unless you can show me where you got the info from.
For me it boils down to service/support. A P here for $1400 or Q from Poland for $1200.
Or I could just get a stage 1 tune...
They are definitely faster all round than older units. The interface is far less sluggish which is nice.
If you subtract the price you can get for selling your C unit its not too bad an upgrade I guess.
I have not seen a Q unit personally let alone used/tested one so I have no first hand information.
The alternate voice options I think refers to the male voice option which came with firmware 4120. I could be wrong.

I think you are correct. Male voice.
I thought I might get around 550 for my C unit. Do you think?
That'll be a bargain for someone at that price.
