Just picked up our new Golf Mk VI GTI on Saturday and have a question about an issue we are experiencing with the RNS510 / MDI / iPod.
The RNS510 is the apparently new version with the voice control. We have factory fitted MDI installed as well.
The problem we are having is with our iPod Nano and the track name display on the head unit.
If we let songs play through in their entirety the track name updates and shows the name of the next track when it starts playing as it is supposed to.
The issue occurs when we skip to the next track using either the head unit or steering wheel controls. If we skip a track after it has started playing, the name of the next track updates and it begins playing however when that track finishes and the next one starts the track name does not update and remains as the previously played track name, regardless of how many other tracks play. ie the name of the song that was playing when that song was skipped remains on the display until the iPod is unplugged and replugged.
In summary, the problem -
1) Using "Mix" mode on head unit to shuffle all songs on either 4th Gen iPod, 5th Gen ipod or iPhone 3GS
2) Listen to track "A"
3) Decide you don't like track "A" so use either the head unit or the steering wheel controls to skip to the next track
4) Track "B" starts playing. Listen to track "B" in it's entirety.
5) Track "B" finishes, track "C" begins to play. Screen on both RNS510 and MFD still show track "B" details.
6) Track "C" finishes, track "D" starts playing. Displays STILL show track "B" details.
7) So on and so on until you unplug and replug the iPod or iPhone...
Sometimes the system will let you skip songs a couple of times before exhibiting this behaviour. It doesn't always start on the first track skip but it will start very soon if tracks are skipped a couple of times.
Can anyone provide some insight?
