lol GET TO WORK!
just got home from glidns
its 1:30 am i have work in 4 hours..
whoopeee!
we spent pretty much the whole night doing oil changes and working on a sub box for his wifes GTI
got to my two towards the end.. to diagnose the leaks..
which to out surprise there were a few.. i suppose thats the difficulty when moulding and trimming such a difficult shape with glass..
so one box is leaky leaky no more.. and the other one is a current wip.. trying to solve the remaining leaky issues!
got heaps of foam and **** to use as gaskets and **** like that to minimise vibrations etc..
cos the car vibrates horrible especially when listening to Kings of leon the song "on call"
Part 1: completed last night
interor back in! yay system operational but only running at 60% of Potential!
stay tuned for part 2: the incorporation of even more foam stuffing and hush matt or dyna mat or similar..
yay..
Do it right, deaden why you have the trim off. May need an extra 2-3hours work but its gunna save you a lot of time in the long run!! Even if you do need it finished for the weekend lol.
its the money issue..
not the time issue..
besides
it takes 20 minutes to remove.. so no probs there..
its all got to come out sooner than later any way because there are a few annoying dings down the left hand side that need to be rolled out..
Looks awesome.
How did you run the cables from the battery to the rear for the amp?
And the RCA leads???
I'm planning to do a sub install, but seems like it might be a pain in the ass, as i'm not wanting to cut or destroy anything - so that can be removed in future, and still be tidy.
Cheers.
Here is a quick run down on doing these steps.
As for power run them up the black channel behind battery up and under the rain tray, run the power cable just to the left of the pollen filter, There is a grommet you can run the power cable thru.
You will have to remove your glovebox to get easy access to it in the car.
Then simply run under the door trim to the boot.
RCA's - run down other side of car under the door trim, and out under the back seats. Or all the way into the boot as we had done.
If you get stuck let us know, will show some photo's as i'm redoing my cabling in a week or so then will be able to post pics.
Its not hard if you have done it a few times before. There is also an easier grommet half way down the firewall under the pollen filter. You can fit huge cables through that one.
If you have never done it before, take your time and factor in about 2days if no one will help you out :D
Otherwise you can always get an Audio shop to run all your cables and you create the install....
