Maybe not te right word for it. I’m just trying to be positive and make the best out of it. Hopefully the COVID-19 thing goes away soon.

Concerning the startup image, I used binary counting for that.
I found a thread somewhere were bit 2 was selected with binary number 00000010. So I figured if I need bit 1, then I need to use binary number 0000001. That worked for me, no special badge now.

    10 beats audio

Dynaudio coding needs to have byte 11 set to 05.
Also adaptation channel for amplifier set to active, with messagebus set to infotainment canbus.
Maybe I did set it to 03 at first I don’t recall. What I do recall was me thinking I was blowing up my speakers. . Luckily everything works and personally the sound even sounds better than with the rcd510

Btw, I know the phone menu works not as before in my mfd. I don’t mind that, but the audio menu disappeared, nothing to be done to get it back?

Phone and nav menu just add 77 and 37 to gateway installation list even though they aren't there.
    Then MFD integration will work.

Phone and nav are present in the mfd, it’s the audio menu that is no longer there. When I’m connected with CarPlay and I’m using DAB I can’t see on the mfd which station I’m listening to. So I have to push the radio button to check the station and then back to CarPlay.

Recently i (VW CC gen2) upgraded my factory fitted RNS510 to a new MiB2 PQ G version.
Although everything works fine and as intended, i noticed the radio seems suffering from some very small hickups, random stutters in the menu animations, map drawing, especially zoom in/out is sometimes less fluent.

It's not very noticeable, but i see quite a difference in performance when the unit is just fresh started and how it performs after 30 minutes. it. So for me, it only happens when the unit is running for a while.

Initially i thought this was just a software flaw, something on the memory management that will become better after updates. And i just ignored it.

Last week, after a long drive, i removed the unit from my car as i wanted to connect a USB extension.
I discovered the unit was hot, very hot even. Could not hold the unit in my hands longer then 10 seconds, that hot.

So i decided to open the unit, to see what kind of cooling is in there.
Well... As for my G unit, it was even worse then i thought. On the bottom plate, there are 3 IC's (including the SoC) that are around 1 mm away from the metal housing, between there is some substance that i would rather call peanut butter, as it won't transfer thermal that much.

So i decided to improve the chip thermal transfer. Removing that yellow/orange 'peanut butter' junk, replacing with a 1mm graphite CPU thermal pad, and to make sure the contact will be most optimum, i also added a very thin layer of a high-end thermal grease ( Noctua NT-H2 ).
Also added this grease on the sound amp IC.
And as the unit is almost empty from inside, i installed a 5mm laptop CPU fan, that just fits perfectly on the air holes of the unit, so it will blow out all the internal heat.

Reassembled the whole thing, back into my car, and guess what.. Even after hours of drive, the unit is no more slowing down !

In my conclusion, before, my unit was getting so hot, the internal SoC needed to do thermal throttling, reducing its performance.

It's a relative easy modification, recommended to the ones who are experiencing degraded performance after a while as i did.

Yes the thermal 'paste' they use is more like a terrible type of foam.
Any time I have to open a unit up I scrape it all off and replace with CPU thermal paste such as Arctic Silver.
Haven't ever needed to add a fan.

Yes, initially i thought doing the same, just replace the standard thermal 'foam', but then i discovered there is a 1mm gap, at least on my G unit.
Gap is just too big for any paste to efficient transfer any heat, so i decided to use (graphite) thermalpads to compensate the big gap.
Any thin 1mm piece of copper would be fine as well, as long both sides have any thermal paste to improve the termal conductivity.

I don't know if other models have the same 'gap'.

The fan should not be needed indeed, i just add it, because i had it laying around my desk here anyways, and there was room for it.
On some very hot days, it could help, as there isn't much passive cooling in that area anyways.

Hi to everyone! I recently retrofitted a Composition Media (5K7035200K) on my Golf 6 MY10 (replaced the RCD510). The unit has the hardware patch for the CP and in fact everything works except the voice commands.
However I have some small problems, I try to be brief.

1- The Composition Media has the ParkPilot active, but I do not have it installed in the car, so when I put the reverse gear the screen goes black and an error comes out after few time.
Unfortunately with the VAG I can't reach the 5F module (not even manually), I suppose the problem is the Gateway too old.
Are there other solutions, or am I forced to change Gateway?

2- The Composition Media clock does not synchronize with CDB and always remains at 0:00 (sometimes it appears as 6:28 and disappears after 1 second).
Is the problem always with the Gateway?
However the outside temperature is displayed correctly and on the CDB I see the song titles, radio channels, etc...

3- Sometimes, from the car speakers I hear a "pop": I notice it when I get into the car, shortly after opening the door. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Here is the scan with the VAG if it can be useful:
