When you swap the units can you give an opinion on the sound quality, also do you have the 300 Watt Dynaudio option? Thanks
Exchanged units this avi and can confirm that my May 2011 model RCD 510 reads the phone book perfectly off my wife's iPhone4s. It also displays the song ID and allows song selection in that particular album. However you cannot select upwards to the "album" level.
On the other hand my Garmin Asus A50 phone which uses a hybrid android OS to handle the GPS side of the phone allows song selection at album level but no song ID. It also reads the phone book with minor errors but not as bad as before.
Rossim I do not have the Dynaudio option so I cannot comment re sound quality but as I understand it. This is a separate component and in the Tiguan this is installed under the front passenger seat. It is not part of the head unit as far as I understand but I stand to be corrected.
In the VCDS coding options in the RCD 510 unit i do know there is a software switch (byte/bit) to tell the unit this option is fitted. Did the dealer switch this on using their VAS system when they switched head units?
All RCD 510 fitted in Aus VW's are made by Bosch assembled in Portugal under licence. On the top of each unit is a label showing the wire allocations etc. on this label is also three 4 digit numbers called FDxxxx (manufacture date) HWxxxx (hardware version) and SWxxxx (software version)
The important one is FD where the first 2 digits are the week number and the second 2 are the year for example there was a unit on ebay out of MY13 Amarok that had an FD 0912 which means it was made in march this year much like tyre manufacturers use.
There are also a number of versions of RCD 510 made by Delphi in China. These are for VW's assembled in China for the local market although I understand some are used in VW's for the North American market as these units do not support RDS. They are supposed to be of similar standard and quality to the Bosch unit but I have never seen one physically to confirm. I am given to understand None of the Delphi units support the phone book function
The easiest way to ID the Delphi unit, is there is only ONE large button on either side of the CD slot where as the Bosch has TWO buttons on either side.
My advice to any new vw owner wanting to replace their RCD 310 is get a Bosch RCD 510 no more than a year old otherwise the current factory fitted 9w7 unit will not work properly as we are finding out.
can anyone tell me where to fit bluetooth module...the instructions on car sys. pl http://www.carsystems.home.pl/instrukcje/bluetooth%20golf%20VI.pdf site indicate under passenger's seat but there is some metal box there already I guess factory's amp for dynaudio...the other option is under driver seat but how to lead the cable from bluetooth module to the head unit does anyone know?
These instructions are for LHD vehicles sold in Europe and North America. The cable fits under the carpet but does require the foot rest and accelerator pedal to be removed in order to access and run the cable down the side of the transmission tunnel. In the case of the Tiguan the carpet has been precut to thread the cable to the BT unit and wedge the foam holder to.
Just save yourself some time and stick it under the head unit behind the climate controls.
Otherwise you'll have to run the cable under your steering wheel, out past the fuse box, down the right-side trim past the bonnet release (tricky to remove that bit), under the door sill and then under the carpet. No real instructions per se, just pull the trim off and you'll work it out pretty quickly.
that's wat i did too - behind the climatronic controls.
although i now do know how to the wiring under the door sill.
here is mine.....
