Aftermarket head unit in Mk6 Golf GTD

    Hey guys.

Just installed my new eonon head unit. FFS! Install was super easy. Everything seems to work great.

    Except. No sound!

After some (lots) of searching figured ah maybe its the factory amp not being signaled to turn on. Except I can't locate one under either seat.

I had the rcd510 but no Bluetooth etc so wanted to upgrade it.

Any suggestions on what might be the cause?

    Its the Eonon GA7153

    Cheers

Are you certain that you have an amp in your car? Are you driving a golf GTD?

There won't be an external amp under the seat unless the Dynaudio package was fitted to the car. Do the tweeters in the front doors at the base of the a-pillar (by the mirrors) have the Dynaudio logo? If not, no external amp.

Thanks for the reply guys. No not dynaudio. I replugged the rcd510 and it worked. Tried Eonon again. It worked. So I pulled back out and soldered the joints properly and all working now. Presume something loose in the new harness. Cheers

Looks like it's actually running on Android itself

Android auto is where you connect your android phone to the headunit so that the headunit shows the screen of the phone. Running android on the headunit itself doesn't automatically mean it is android auto capable. But there's someone who's implemented an android app that works as android auto headunit. I had a look at the eonon page, it doesn't mention android auto, but I'm impressed that they've added support for most other things, eg. rear sensors, climate control and general OBDII protocol.
