    ECO-Fuel

    Hello all,
I'm new to this forum...posted my 1st post yesterday in the Newbies section.
No reply as yet so I thought I would post a further enquiry in this section.

Next year, my wife are hiring a VW Golf ECO-fuel for a roadtrip in Scandinavia.
I know very little about ECO-fuel.

    Is ECO-fuel a dual fuel set-up?

I suspect that ECO-fuel is a combo of CNG & a small petrol tank.

Can anyone confirm my suspicions & supply any further relevant info?

Does the Golf ECO-fuel perform well?

Is ECO-fuel readily available in Scandinavia?
I suspect that it will be because Norway is heavily "in to" CNG/ LNG & the various gas variants.

I look forward to your feedback.

    Regards,
    Richard.

    Hi Richard

    Welcome to the forum.
You'll find heaps of useful information right throughout the forums.

A quick google (and translation) gave this result:

Important news on widening the range Ecofuel (natural gas) are discovered during a very interesting view, was an executive with Volkswagen, during which it was found that in addition to the already announced Golf Ecofuel, production in 2010 will also Tiguan Ecofuel.

Note some further research shows that some of the Ecofuel range also includes a small fuel tank for either diesel or petrol.

Info seems a bit scarce but I think you can work on CNG as being the "Ecofuel".

Make sure you share your experiences of this technology

    interesting - and welcome!

it wouldnt surprise me if the 'ecofuel' variants were either petrol or diesel, since it is possible and advantageous to run either engine on a mixture, or entirely, on natural gas (though a 100% natural gas diesel engine has not been produced for an engine so small as to fit in a car - yet).
