Have been seeing a lot of yours and your mates mk4 (the one pictured a few pages back) on various forums on my travels.
Looking good! Is that the XL Airlift set up?
Be keen to see how low you can go with what tyre/wheel combos, and what you think of it.
Love those new wheels. Going to look sweeeet!
The pics get about don't they!
Pats car is stunning even more so now that i've polished it up for him,we're good friends with the guys from down London the one with the X5 wheels and Dele's amazing R32 etc................
Your bang on the money with my air,it is indeed Airlift's XL kit,i run manual valves and Viair gauges to keep an eye on each corner. The ride on the XL's is awesome, firm and sporty but without that harsh crashiness that you get when running low on coilovers and can lift up if the road conditions are a bit sketchy,i love it.As yet the wheels haven't even been tried on the car, hope i got my maths correct!
The wheels are 5X120 so using my current adaptors, but to get the rears to sit how i want them it required loosing 3mm off the offset.I had planned to have 3mm machined of the back of the rear wheels, but due to the spoke design it wasn't possible,a solution had to be found fast. The idea came up about taking 3mm off the adaptor face but this would leave the bolts that hold them to the hub sitting proud 3mm(they can't be chopped down, for head strength),so it was decided that we should make little pockets in the back of the wheels to accommodate the bolts.
These are 8.5JX19(215/35/19) up front and 9.5J(225/35/19)at the back, both are ET35 but after adaptors they come in at ET19 up front and ET22 at the back, should sit very well once aired out.
After viewing the wheels in sunlight i wasn't so keen on the colour, they almost look chrome and cheap.......................this couldn't be left alone.

I has wood.
Lol
I chose a light grey base coat,a white pearl over the top and a satin lacquer, came out perfect in my eyes. They change colour depending on how the light hits them, from various shades of grey to almost ice white when the sun hits them.

count 3!
Looking good! I like the 215 over the 8.5, so confirms what i had in mind for my new wheels!
Did you have trouble getting the front struts in? I see you cleaning mounting point, did you have to remove the paint like everyone else seems to claim?
Any air left in the bags in the photo with the winter wheels on?
I just had to chime in here, someone showed me a link to this page and holy crap, I am in love. What wheels are they? And hats off to pearl white on wheels, I wanted to do it before I sold my car, they look exactly how I thought they would!!!
If you EVER need to sell those wheels, I'm your man. My new car isn't in the vag family but it has the same stud pattern......lol.
