Thread: 95 Ibiza just purchased

    95 Ibiza just purchased

I purchased a 1995 Seat Ibiza 1.4l on Saturday as a little commuter to drive to and from work.
It needs a little bit of work and some parts, and was surprised to find such little information about them on the internet.
Firstly, where would one be able to get spare parts for these in Melbourne (or posted from elsewhere)?
And, where would I get a repair manual for these (or would anyone know torque settings etc)?

Just thought I'd also do a little repair thread. Here she is before I started tidying her up.
There's a few dings and scrapes here and there, plus a leak in the exhaust, but it runs really nicely, and drives well.
Any helpful hints and words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated!

Hi mate cool to see another Ibiza geek.
Do you still have your Bora?

Any VW specialist will be able to get Seat parts. Remember they are a mix of Mk2/3 Golf.
Lots of self serve wreckers will have an Ibiza or two.

I think tonijov is out your way and a Seat expert!

So, bit of a gap in posting, but I have been doing a little bit of work, and I'm hoping to get the little beast on the road when I get back from a trip to NZ.
So far I have straightened the front end (including some home panel beating), re-painted the lower bumper, plus some other small parts in the bay, repaired the back seat mechanism and done some maintenance to the engine.
It's had a service with fresh oil and filter, ignition leads, plugs, coil pack, distributor cap, distributor coil, fuel filter (should've seen the fuel that came out of it!), new battery and a repair to the exhaust manifold/a few exhaust gaskets.
It is however running pretty rough, sitting at 750 RPM and has a bit of a wobble going on.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I would be missing? Perhaps the carb needs a tune?

Start by looking for any vacuum leaks when running. Spray some carb cleaner around the carby and see if the revs change.

You could also increase the revs when idling to about 900 and see if it's any better.

    Cheers

    Thanks!
Will have another look at it when I get a chance.
I did do a few vacuum hoses not that long ago, but not all.
Will post back with some more progress soon.

Update: tightened the low limit screw on the carby, bringing the revs up a little (probably only a quarter turn, but still only ~800rpm idle), and gave the carby a quick squirt with carby cleaner. The revs picked up a fair bit, so I'm guessing (with my very limited knowledge of carburetors) that it's lacking in fuel/running lean. Any idea how to adjust air/fuel ratio?

Or it has an air leak from a gasket or a vacuum hose.

I h=am wrecking a Toledo if you need some parts, not sure how compatible some parts are.
