    If ur willing to take it apart piece by piece then u might get some money back from it but selling it as a wreck i dont think ull get more than 2k. Why dont u buy a wreck urself and swap motors and sell off the rest, ull prob come out even then

    You wont get a lot wrecking it either unfortunately. The engine is the good bit!
    if the rest of the car is reasonable. Id look at the price of a decent second hand engine and just bung it in. and then sell if you wanna get out of it

    There's not a lot of money in wrecking MK3 s.

    I buy a wreck if I can get it for between $500 to $1000 (plus about $100 for towing etc) I keep the parts I want and usually break even by selling the rest.

    It makes it a fairly cost neutral way to pick up a motor or gearbox, but it does cost you time and effort.

    (Perhaps I sell the parts too cheap, but I don't have to make a living out of it)

    A complete running roadworthy Mk3 VR6 is worth a lot more than the sum of it's parts. It's probably worth your while to fix the car and sell it as a going concern.

    At auction the value of your car with a stuffed motor would be below $1000 (in my opinion).

    If you wreck it yourself you might be able to recover up to $2000 if you're lucky and patient.

    The VR6 specific bits might fetch you a more than the CL/GL Vento Cordoba stuff I've sold.

    Hope this information helps with your decision.

    (It would be a shame to lose a VR6 off the road though)

    yeah that's what i thought

    Sunday I'll push car under carport and take tappet cover off see if i can see anything. hopefully well dad thinks to think that the sprocket between the two chains has brocken or bolt holding it on has come loose(for some reason we may have forgot to toruqe it up when we did timing chain service but i somehow dought that)

    let you guys now
