Windscreen seal bit, where to get replaced?

Just pull them out and clean out all the crap and make sure the seals at the bottom of the cabin filter holder are clean. Oftern the build of of crap and age of the cars means the water can leak in even if its directed away from the top of the filter.

It never looks good when you cut all the rubber away. Id pay the 5 or 6 bucks and make it look nice and neat but then again, thats just me :)

This is the part I bought today. Only thing they had in the shop. Looks a bit thicker than mb1907953's post.
Edit: I bought 2 metres, that's just a sample they gave me to check.

Part is: 500 (internal store number?) Weather Strip WSP13/26 fetched me $14.95 a metre.
The U area is where the glass sits in between right? And the lip goes over the plastic as seen in the photo below?

Peeled a bit of the existing rubber off, yep, there's crap there. I assume I just need to unscrew the + circles to get to that area and I'll be good to clean it out?

I was removing the two plastic trays today so that I can clean out the area and put the new rubber in when I came across this.

Doesn't look good. Anyone know what's it for? Looks be just a seal that needs replacing. There's quite a force pulling it away.

woah, there's quite a bit there. Will clean it out properly but did this for now.

Make sure you get a vacuum in there and get it all out. Then inspect where the filter housing seals to the bottom of the chamber and make sure there arent any spots for the water to leak in.

That other thing is the PCV valve. Unfortunately you'll either have to replace it or do a mod and chuck on a little oil catch can instead. Looks like someone hasnt bought the right hose for it, hence th pressure and the breakage.

How much would something like that cost to fix? How easy would it be to do it myself? I have a friend coming over next week. He has a complete toolset for a Jetta. Will see if he can help me out.

Why I've decided NOT to use the rubber seal.
The seal was too thick and would not fit. Where the part of the U that sits under the glass (it does right?) there was enough seal there anyway so it was not needed.

I've cleaned out all the area around the cabin air filter and the other side. Took out the leaf blower and got pretty much everything out of there. Cleaned over the rest with a damp cloth.

What I did do instead and what I plan to do.
Used Gumption to clean off the old rubber residue, then windexed the area.

What needs to be done.
The area that I talked about before about having enough seal in place needs to be done over to make sure it's properly sealed and even. I'll probably do this with some silicone, preferably black.

Why I'm doing it this way.
The two part tray catches the water and diverts it to the drainage holes anyway without the rubber. I just might need to clean out the leaves and what not that gets in there every now and then, shouldn't really be a problem. It looks better without the rubber. The windscreen disappears under the tray lip.

This is the seal I was talking about with the windscreen. There isn't enough space for that rubber I bought to fit in here.

As you can see I need to fill this gap up. The water will simply go over the lip and into the tray and drain away.

I did the Clark Rubber thing that mb1907953 did, it only lasted around 2 years before it peeled off, so lastime i bought a tube of windscreen silicon (black) ~$10, and used it and had no dramas with it since then. A spatula and some water to smoothe it over once applied.

Those items are very pricey to buy from VW as when i enquired, i would of had to buy the whole windscreen water deflectors set up.

I guess it's not worth it then, 2 years is not a long time. Where can I buy some of that silicon?
