Hella Celis headlights. Black internals and RHD converted.

Sneak peek of Hella Celis RHD and black conversion

Excuse the dodgy pic but here are my new headlights for my VR6.

I liked the Hella lights but wanted black internals, I looked at some of the cheaper options out there but ended up deciding on doing a conversion myself.

Was a bit of a mission, completely dismantling the entire unit, plenty of fiddly bits and a few hair pulling moments but the end result I think was worth the effort, at the end of the day I now have the lights I liked the colour I wanted and I've converted them to RHD at the expense of a few hours and $60 worth of materials.

Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the steps involved but if anyone is considering doing this its not too hard, Ill have them in the car tomorrow but wont be able to set them up properly until next week most likely as the car is on stands with the front suspension out.

Let me know what you think boys and girls

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

Just waiting for the damn glue to dry now so I can install them into the car....

The hardest part of the whole project was removing the cut off shield to flip it to convert to the beam pattern, the lens housing uses crap torx screws that stripped way too easily, so there was a bit of cursing going on when that happened. The rest of the unit has realy good quality torx screws which werent a problem at all but both lens housings with this set used rubbish screws. There are 3 holding the lens in place 2 of them stripped the other came out with a bit of persuasion.
The scary part was deciding to continue on knowing the only way to get these screws out was to drill them out. I tried easy outs but the screws were too tight so In the end I drilled the entire screws right out and replaced with a slightly larger much better quality stainless steel self tapping screw. That process itself isn't that hard but the thought of breaking the housing and having it all go pear shaped was there!

Flipping the cut off shield was easy, it doesn't line up when you flip it over because there are locating tabs on either side that are off set so it wont line up. I filed the locating tabs off and slightly modified the adjustment plate and the shield then fits in place perfectly now with RHD beam pattern

Fitted the headlights up last night and installed a HID kit, I'm pretty happy with the end result its the look Im after.
No pics yet though, the car is still on stands and its too dirty to post pictures in public

Well havent been around here for quite a while but I thought I'd finally post a couple of pics of the headlights installed in the car as there was some interest in another thread.

Please excuse the crap pictures these are phone pics a mate took today so image quality is crap but hopefully it gives a decent idea of what they look like on the car.

I might even arrange to take some decent shots of the thing one day
