Most of those probs seem to be an easy fix. The coolant light is the low level warning so all you need to do is top it up lol.

Hehe... I drove around in a Starlet once, it was my nan's car. Perfect if you need an A to B!

Those problems sound much better than most people's lists man, I'm jealous of you

Sorry to steal your thread but I must ask...my oil light blinks once most times when I start the car up. it goes off after one blink, but it blinks almost every time...does anyone know if it's happening for a reason?

ah well if it is the sensor then u can just replace the whole coolant reservoir. its a good excuse esp if its discoloured and u cant see t hru it.

and yes its usually the regulator but sometimes motors do cark it.

I did my oil recently but I think it still does it every now and then. Oh, I've also just read that our engines take 5.7 litres of oil, not 5 litres. Top-up time!

    Back on topic now, haha..sorry.

When it comes to window regs have a look at getting them new. They are *about* $250 or so from VW (about $100 or so shipped for a generic part from overseas).

I replaced one of mine with a new one and it's now dead silent when it moves, no crunching, no vibration, nothing. Perfect and I now know it's good for another 10 years

The problem with second hand is they are still old and close to breaking

After draining the oil and replacing it with 5L of new oil, the dipstick is at half, right in the middle of low and high. I wouldn't recommend going more than that.

Since I have read that from the bottom mark to the top mark is about 1L worth of oil it's possible that the MAXIMUM capacity for oil is 5.7L... although I really am guessing.

Yup, Id agree with this. its important, particularly for the drivers one which gets the most use. I can supply brand new drivers side mechanisms for $230. Genuine VW.

Oh and surely your car is a GL if it has electric windows.

Is the rocker cover in the engine bay silver or black??
