Very useful double-din wiring table for those wanting to install aftermarket HU's:

Here's how to recondition a failing coilpack, or repair a busted one, for a MkIII VR6. These parts are quite prone to failure and very expensive to replace with OEM parts.

Oh, and there's over 30 pictures there, so look out

My daughter has a 2001 cab with a broken antenna. I have removed the glove box assy as the first step. I am guessing the inner guard needs removing to replace it at that point as there appears to be a mount for the bottom of the antenna attached to it. The other issue is how to remove the radio without breaking something so the new antenna can be plugged in. These are a bit different to the MK5, make that a lot different The radio has two small holes on each side and I am guessing that I need to insert something to release the holding mechanism.

If it's like a mk4 use to pieces of wire bent into a U shape. You will need one U shape bit for the left and one for the right side of the head unit.
Basically 2 tabs each side of the head unit that you need to move by pushing the wire against them to allow the HU to be free

The radio is supposed to come with two U shaped tools. Since you don't have them, use wire from a coat hangar.
I cut one up and made two U shapes. Then insert a U, one on each side and push them in. You should then be able to pull the whole unit out, not using the U shapes though.
I did this successfully. However sometimes the latches don't move out of the way properly when you put the U in and it can be tricky.
