Mk3 can be quite fun when setup correctly.
Few vr's equal with chasers/86/s2000/type r's around Wakefield with just suspension mods.. Quite impressive considering age, lack of power and ****ty suspension layout

Just dreaming at the moment, but say I wanted to go balls deep and do a 1.8t swap, what else is required to get engineered and roadworthy?

So the cat and brakes out of a mk4 gti? Or just the equivalent of?
Yeah true.
Read somewhere that a replacement engine can't have more than a 15% power increase, so if that's 15% from the VR6 i'm fine. And it'd still be under the power to weight for P plates, so that's fine too, I hope.
Still don't know if all this is worth doing to a 4 door with 86k km's, might just have fun in the GL for now and leave engine swaps for a 2 door down the track.

Ah ok, that'd make things easier.
I've been following that build, fairly pricey, but it'd make it a whole heap easier. Yeah it's all designed around their ABA ob2 ecu, not sure how interchangeable that'll be with the tune and that.
I found another plug and play kit by a british company i think, can't recall their name though.
