Thanks speed and feenix, this has sorted it out for me :)

You can buy pads that slot into the round part on a trolley jack.
They are made to lift from the usual jacking points and are safer than wood.
I have ramps, stands and soon to get a 4 post hoist with a jacking beam.
Always be careful, regardless of how you're doing it. :)
Thanks speed, I will lookout for a set of rubber pads to use on my stands and for use on a trolley jack when I get around to getting one.
Yep, well worth the investment :)
Agree, just found some on ebay for $15 each, will probably get one for a future trolley jack and two for the stands that I have (should be able to cut and shape the pad so that it sits in the wide u-shape of the top of the stands to protect the weld seam at the jacking points when I put the car on the stands.
Just checked them out too, look like they would be useful. I'll look into getting some.
Car just clocked over the 150,000kms milestone, went out for a drive tonight and guess which light decided to pop on :( (it was the airbag light)
Bugger can you grab the steering column clockspring from the one you are wrecking? That seems to be the usual culprit.
ahh the good'ol clockspring mine did it a few months ago lol
i see some CHEAP clocksprings on ebay like this which i'm tempted to get as a quick spare, anybody used one of these before? NEW Spiral Cable Clock Spring Airbag 1H0959653E FOR VW B4 Jetta Golf Passat MK3 | eBay
also when swapping out the clock spring, REMEMBER to centre the new replacement one before you put it on.
spin it with your fingers each way and count how many times it loops over then divide that by 2 to find the approximate centre keeping in mind that the connector needs to be in the bottom position of the steering wheel.
Just need to replace the front indicator bulbs to amber as i just got tinted lenses which don't have an amber insert.
Which bulbs are these?
Searched around and can't find anything and my existing clear bulbs don't say anything besides Narva 21W.
Is it the BA15 or BAU15 fitting?
thanks
