Im pretty sure it shouldnt be able to do this, but im not sure.
Finally meet the old mans son, who was using my car just before i got it. Turns out it cop't a bit of abuse the year leading up to him trading it in.
My tower wobbles about a fair amount :(
Hmm I'm not sure about the tower wobbling thing.
I do recommend however if people do the o2j swap I think one of the polo models uses a bolt in shift tower. Will save you mucking around cutting up and drilling like I did.
Haha happy to tell you whatever you need to know Dylan!
It wasn't a very hard job. Just a little time consuming. From what I've found it appears there's a model of polo that uses the ball joint design like the o2j box and mounts in factory o2a spots. I believe you still use an o2j tower and it all connects up. The only rear benefit to the polo one is that I needed to drill two holes for o2j shifter box mount and widen the hole on the left so it didn't foul when selecting reverse.
Parts needed is really just the shifter box and tower plus a couple longer bolts and some washers. There's a good DIY on vortex for it that I followed. The DIY is a corrado but it was pretty much the same.
For a newb, whats the shifter tower change? Just the weight of the gear shift?
The whole assembly max.

The shifter tower in the engine bay that goes into the transmission and the shifter box in the car with cables that run into the bay.

Sorry should've clarified my question - What does it actually improve? Just to tighten up the whole feel of the box?
