    No A/C stereo, TV?

Okay, further to my previous post about the ignition switch, wear to my ignition barrel has forced me to start the vehicle using the ignition switch outside the barrel with a flat head screwdriver. Basically, it just hangs there and I turn the key and then turn the barrel. Its only very very temporary, cause i gotta get to work tonight. Anyway, I shorted something by accidently touching the wrong part of the switch with my screwdriver!!

Sooooo no a/c, no head unit and no TV. Where are the fuses for these? They aren't in the fuse panel. What to do?? What did I do..

There is a lesson here about being a hurry and getting desperate. !

Dude are you sure the fuses aren't in the fuse panel? I remember seeing radio fuse at least, as one of the very last fuses there...

Just pull each one by one and check to see if one is broken. Jaycar will have spare fuses for ya and they should be pretty cheap

I also have this sussed. No the Golf is not stolen, I would steal something a lot quicker than a 2.0! Maybe a VL Commodore! Ha. Anyways the reason the stereo, TV, air-con etc don't work is because the starter switch has to touching the metal ignition barrel for earth. So i know how to fix it..

Now I gotta find a starter button, some wire and spend another day f'ing around hitting my head on the underside of the dash and then going to work till 1am.

    Peace

Hey just been reading mate , your ign switch has 6 pins -
    RED- Permenant Live
    YELLOW/BLACK - X Relief circuit.
    RED/BLACK - Starter
    BLACK - Ign Live
Brown/Red - Circuit for door switch warning
Grey- Goes to fuse box and inst cluster
I am confused with the earth thing mate as there is no earth at this switch and shouldnt be or that will cause major dramas
If you shorted the switch then you may need another switch, but check the fuse - which is Fuse 22.
Keep us posted mate , spent all my time on this model and still have all the diagrams so feel free to ask man.
