    The latest

we got quotes for $580 to replace the glass. just can't custify that.

I got some 3mm perspex cut it and it had done the job..

i thought it was random that the glass broke bit on closer inspection i think the roof mechanism is not working properly. .
if anyone had any experience i am keen to hear it.

I just order what I need from overseas. Oz prices are stupidly high, and wreckers rarely have what I need.

For example: coilovers in Oz used were more expensive than buying new JOM from the UK including shipping.

Amazon USA have it at $20 plus $34=$54 takes up to 16 days to get to me

A place in melbourne had one for $100 sent to me in 2 days

    I went the $100 route

all I can say is that there is some healthy mark ups in parts!

    Hi all
Hope everyone is happy in golfland.

The mk3 cabrio would not turn over and shorting the starter it will run. So my starter motor is ok.
I am not getting 12v to the solenoid. So i need to work backwards.

Does a mk3 cabrio manual have a starter relay ? Or does the ignition switch go straight to the starter solenoid?

    Thx paul

First of all as i have not been on this site for a while i mistakingly logged in againbut under a different name.

Anyway we are up and driving again.
I opened the fusebox and low and behold a wired in push button switch falls out.! I press it . Yes the engine starts. So it looks as though the PO has wired this in. I assume the ignition switch has had a previous problem.

So from what i can tell mk3 does not have an ignition relay? The ignition switch just switches the starter solenoid? I cant see a relay in the service manual.

Hi mate, loving the comprehensive post here.
I know it's been a while, but I've got a Cabby too and was just wondering if you've still got any service/info books or spares still you'd be willing to sell
    Cheers
