VR6 wheel Scrubbing. with pic.

Hey all, posted this a while ago, but havent been on in ages so repost time.

My 1994 VR6 scrubs like crazy with two people in the back, wearing out my tyres and what not, ive tried taking a bit off the inside of the lip which helped a bit, but still hasnt stopped it. Went over to my local panel beaters to see what they reckon, and he said that rolling the fender out will be pricey, and most likely crack the paint. As you can see they arnt the stock rims, panel beater said best thing to do is to just put some harder suspension in the back, what do you guys reckon? Some cheapish ebay struts or what?
Any more photos or anything needed please ask.

id say roll the guards, with lots of heat the paint might not crack (but then again i have no experience, so take the panel beaters advice over mine ) but even if it does a little, its under neath the black plastic flare things anyway, so not a huge deal. Really shouldnt cost more then new suspension.

some skinnier tyres would probably help too, so could sittfer suspension as was said, may aswell get coilovers and lower it a bit while your at it

But i like these rims!!! haha yea i will look into new tyres, will go and get an exact quote of how much they want, really cant afford to spend that much at the moment.
As for lowering, around where i live i think i would die if it were any lower..haha

I'd roll the gaurds, the plastic arches will cover up and cracks/peels and/or repairs of cracks/peels.

Just need to lip them really. fold that metal lip out of the way, and trim the plastic arch a tad.

Regal autosport have some camber shims (around 50 bucks IIRC?)
You could dial in a little camber to give ourself the clearance if you wanted to leave your guards alone.

Wonder how much guard work you can do whilst still keeping the arch trims? :S

mate .. i had the same problem when i first dropped my 17"s .. but cuz im running TuningArt coilovers i just stiffened it up a bit .. and no rubbing with 3 ppl in the back .. i'll post a pic later to show you . .

Ok so i watched the mightcarmods ones, and a few others on the net, seems quite easy and a quick question, the black plastic guard around the edges is held on my 3 large rivets(i think) and if i were to roll the lip right back, how would these stay on?? there would be no where for the rivet to fit?

this is the question ive been trying to figure out for a fair while. You might be able to trim it back and just use some double sided tape to stick it to the body, or there might even be a way to bend the plastic with the metal. Would be interested to hear some other ideas.

Have you got the standard suspension in at the moment. If so the bump stops may be stuffed and allowing too much suspension travel. If they are stuffed and you replace them make sure that you use the originals. It could be a cheap fix without having to touch the body work.
