Which coilover to buy?

Hey,

So my suspension is ruined on my 98 VR6 and I'm looking to do a cheapish replacement. I had looked at Bilstein suspension but it's way out of my price range. Was looking at $2,400 for everything including installation, but considering that's almost half the value of my car it probably isn't the smartest idea :-0

I've read a bit and have found the following kits. Does anyone run either of these that can give some feedback or advice? They seem to cheap to be good?

CX racing, Weitc, KW, H&R. All good brands. ake sure you replace your upper strut mount and rubber while you are at it.

Well I can't speak of the CX ratings, but I've got a set of Streetlines in my 2.0lt now and I've had no troubles, go decently low as well. I've got them would all the way down at the front but I need to roll my fenders now because they rub. And the rears have maybe an inch and a half to two inches left of threads, but they are rubbing too. The ride isnt TOO bad, havent had any complaints but you will defiantly feel the bouncy-ness. But by all means they are a great decent set of coils for the price.

Is it just the damping that is gone? If so, just get a set of Koni or Bilstein dampers as you will get better suspension control for your dollar - no need to go for coilovers unless you want to lower it.

The ride isnt TOO bad, havent had any complaints but you will defiantly feel the bouncy-ness.

You want to avoid this result which is typical of cheap dampers (in this case, in the coilovers)

Also all remember our cars are coming up to nearly 20 years old so all the bushes are a bit shagged. If you plan on being serious and not just a a "low scene kid" a full front end refresh kit is worth it. foff did a full refesh and his car was slammed but drove like it was new.

Second Water boys comments but also check whats already there. My front wishbones already have poly bushes that look like theyre in pretty good nic so hopefully theyre ok at the moment.

I'm not sure what is gone specifically. Two corners, one front, one back, are pogo'ing. I want to reduce the ride height as it looks awkwardly high atm, and I also want to improve the handling. I'm spending a lot of effort maintaining the original comfort of the ride and sound as well so don't want to sacrifice that. Is that asking too many things?
