Not if you're happy to pay for a good set of coilovers. :)
Also, as far as installing them, it isn't too hard to do if you're handy &/or have mates who are handy with cars and tools :)

Mate I'm in your situation and I honestly recommend the CX racings. I've driven a VR6 with them and they improve the comfort and feel of the car massively (feels quite upmarket actually) and also stiffen it up heaps. Just my opinion. i cant speak for how long they'll last though...
I havent been in a car with the CX racing, but from what I've read they are what I would be putting in an mk3 if I still had one.
Three criteria have been specified here:
- Moderate Budget
- Restored or improved handling with minimal impact on ride
- Drop for improved appearance
