Need some help with my air induction, want to get a pod filter, pipe work and cold air induction that will fit in the standand air box (or replace with out being defected) any ideas on where to get these darn things ahaha.
Will get my mechanic to install. Time to get a little more Hp and a better note out of the little weapon

I think no one has found a pod filter that will fit inside the stock airbox, without modifications of course. Some have made their own heat shield/boxes (PM Golf Houso) whereas some use aftermarket set-ups (like the BMC CDA schoona referred to) but I reckon keeping the stock airbox with its panel filter is the way to go. You have to keep in mind that the stock airbox, while enclosed, was designed to channel air through the intake and for an accurate MAF reading. Replacing this with a pod, you basically end up with a turbulent flow of air.
What I did with mine was cut a decent sized hole (more like an opening) on the bottom half of the airbox. The opening is facing towards the headlight end of the fender panel so as to minimise drawing in hot air from the engine area. I don't feel any power increase at all, but I do get a better throttle response and that induction growl
There's been a few topics on this before and what some people have done is replace the stock paper panel filter with a high-flow K&N item and route some flexible tubing down to where the lower side duct is on the bumper.

Yeah i was having a look at the Diy section (Cut out hole in standard air box) Thinking i mite get a K&N grid filter to replace the standard filter. will be alot chaper. hay Ray ray did you purchase a K&N replacement if so where would be the best or cheapest place to pic one up..

replacement panel filter is a good way to go with out spending too much. Modify the box to get more air in and it will be sweet.
i picked up a near new BMC CDA of ebay for $250!!!induction noise is pure bliss.
definately worth saving up and going for that option later down the track.

hows that k&n panel filter go? any noticable difference? i was thinking of grabbing on of those. just seems like a different pod or whatever would get too much heat soak. the stock airbox seems really designed to get air front right down away from the engine.
Much better throttle response. Hard to tell with power but any power is hard to tell with the 2.0L![]()

First of all nice ride mate I wanted the black vr6 but the one I picked up was in very good condtion so couldn't resist. Iv heard othere members talk about these.. is BMC CDA brand of induction systme..? i probably would prefer to get one as time is not something i have a lot of these days. do you recall where you purchased it from.. any Hp gains or just the better note.???
