    Billy's Mk3 GL Daily.

    Well I've finally decided to create a thread for my mk3 after owning it for about a year and a bit now.

    The white GL was/is my first car, it was born in 1997 with a manual gearbox and just over 175,000kms.

    It's came a long way over the last year and a half. Here's how she looked when I picked it up back in February 2012.

    I then picked up a set of Genuine Hella all black tails from rayray,

    Then came some matching Hella indicators and dummy fogs,

    Then came the trim respray!
    I had a seriously annoying paint crack coming through on the rear bumper, so the DIY-er in me began to show again.

    I firstly sanded the crack back;

    Then the whole bumper;

    and then sprayed it black!

    I then sanded and blacked the side stripes to match,

    Eventually I got round to doing the front bar too, finishing the look for now.

    The Gloss trim is different and awesome I think!

    I also sorted some fender flares to complete the 'tough' look.

    I also picked up a set of BB5 R5's... Yes RS reps ahaha
    They where on the car for quite a while until I recently sold them to Wade (Golfballs) for his mk2.

    The mk3 is also sitting on some FK streetlines coilovers, which honestly I really enjoy. But they could go lower

    The DIY install was really fun and a great money saver!

    Well that's how the mk3 sits now, it's back on stockies now with some Falken ZE912's.

    But the whole reason I decided to make a thread today was because my wheels arrived!

    I'm not going to show what they are yet; but they are 16"s tall, 3 piece splits and not BBS RS ahaha the refurb will start once I take the tires off tomorrow... Hoping for 8.5/9inch rears

    Here's how the test fit went with the super meaty tires,
    Rears;

    Can't find a pic of the fronts but it's a little tucked.

    I plan on getting the wheels sorted before Day of the volkswagen this year!

    I will update this when ever I get some work done on the mk3!

    Thanks for viewing

    I can't wait to finish them, hopefully I can get the tyres off today, if not for sure on the weekend. Then I can start the refurb!

    Thanks mate! Yeah of course! All in the preparation my friend ahaha I used a spray paint I found in bunnings, about $12-15 a tin and it worked brilliantly. I sanded the bumpers back, not to the bare texture but so there was no gloss left on the paint, then used a plastic primer made by the same company as the paints, I gave them a few coats of that. Primer was strange though as it was clear, not grey. Then I gave them a few coats of black and finally ended with a couple of layers of clear coat. Came up great for my first spray painting venture, might do the stock steelies later on for fun when the new wheels are sorted
