What did you do to your MK2 today?

I looked around but couldn't find a thread for MK2 owners to post what day-to-day things they do to their cars. This can only mean 1 of 2 things. Either none of us do small jobs on our cars because they never need fixing or no-one bothered to start a thread.

I'm always tinkering so here's what I've had to fix lately.

The box that holds my petrol pump had a small leak at the top, where the fuel return line from the engine comes into it. To fix it required taking the box off which is a pain of a job. 4 fuel lines hang off it and they have really old metal clips that had to be slid sideways to get undone.

Where it was leaking from wasn't a high pressure area. The only glue I had that could fix the problem was 5 min Araldite and I'm not sure if it's petrol soluble over time but for now it works. Glued all over the small crack and where the plastic had broken away and left it to set for 30 min before putting it all back together with new clamps on the hoses.

All up it took about 3 hours but at least there's no petrol leak and no smell.

    Cheers

    Paul

Not exactly today, last weekend I spent $140 parts to replace all spark plug, lead, distributor cap and rotor, the whole car run a lot better now, no more misfire in the morning, no need to warm up for 5 minutes before take off

Reset the idle screw so the car doesn't stall after fast stops.
Tightened all the belts to stop squeals from air con.
Replaced indicator and wiper stalks and now have a hazard light finally after 6 years!

Drove from Byron to Coolangatta and back in what now feels like a new car.

Hit a wombat last night, well I clipped it - luckily the Golf handles really well and I swerved out of the way.

The only damage was my front left indicator doesn't work and the left flare is loose at the front.

Fixed the indicator by thumping it.

    God I love old Golfs.
